Meet Industry Experts who work in preproduction for Animation (in film, television and video games) for an interactive introduction to Animation. We will be setting the challenge for the week, and you'll be able to ask any burning questions to our live guests and us!
Industry experts will discuss the challenges of designing in Augmented Reality and the considerations for different hardware forms (phones, tablets, headsets). We will introduce design concepts, including mood boards, video/text, triggers and the considerations for interactions within Augmented Reality experiences, including gestures and controls. Our presenter will showcase software students can use to visualise their ideas and create wireframes for their AR applications. We will also speak to a UX/UI Designer about her role in creating AR experiences.
Today we'll start creating our animations through this practical, tutorial-based session. We'll be showcasing the free tools you can use to create an animation of your own using stop-motion and 2D vector-based techniques.
Our industry experts will talk about prototyping for Augmented Reality. What tools do they use? How do teams collaborate, and what are the roles and skills required during this phase? Our presenter will take students through a comprehensive demonstration of AR prototyping software, showing them how they can create their own AR application with working interactions, 2D/3D models, sound/music and more. We will also meet a 3D Modeller who will talk about his role in creating AR experiences.
Today's session will continue our work on the production process. This week will focus on 3D animation using tools such as Blender. We will feature some tutorials to help get you started, and speak to an expert guest from the world of gaming, Maxime Meriaux (Ubisoft), about the workflow behind animation in video games.
During this live wrap-up session, our industry experts will be on hand to answer any questions that students have come up with during the programme, discuss careers and entry points, and share their next steps and top tips! We will also meet a Unity Developer who will talk about his role in writing code for AR experiences. We'll also showcase some additional projects to inspire students about the future of AR.
Join us for a practical session, where we'll explore the tools to edit your finished animation and add some extra production values to your work! We'll look at video and audio editing software and explore how you can add muisic, titles and special effects to your project.

This TeenTech Build Your Future Live session focuses on Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (VR and AR). What's the difference between Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality? How do these technologies work? What applications might the technology have outside of the gaming space, and how might advancements in VR and AR help solve some of the challenges in the world today?
The TeenTech MTI Festival, for schools in North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire, will bring together schools and colleges across the region for an exciting interactive programme that will help young people understand the range of opportunities across digital, science and technology, and the many different entry points. Upfront of the festival we will run a live virtual innovation session after which students will work in teams to create a project to make life better, simpler, easier or more fun, on the topic of sustainability. This session is open to as many students as you like. This could be an entire class or year group. This session is online with guest contributors working in contemporary industry. The livestream can be viewed from a screen in several classrooms, or large hall if appropriate. Students can interact by submitting questions throughout the live stream, these questions come through to the TeenTech team who send them through to the presenter to ask on screen. Students are then set an innovation challenge, where they will come up with ideas to address real-world problems connected to the session topic of sustainability.
During this introductory session, experts will join us to tell us about their exciting work on Augmented Reality projects. We will cover the latest developments in Augmented Reality and the Metaverse. This session will inspire and excite students about this technology's potential and demonstrate how related technologies (AI, Machine Learning, sensors and data) can enhance an AR experience. We will also take students behind the scenes of Bloc Digital. This creative studio creates AR, VR and Mixed Reality applications, and they will explain the key differences between these technologies and the experiences they offer.
