The virtual final for the TeenTech Awards brought together 57 teams from across the UK to celebrate bold creative thinking and impressive skillsets, which many judges said they’d appreciate right now in their own companies. 1500 students participated, 1008 girls and 449 boys.

Students took part in online judging sessions last week and made their own videos to showcase their ideas.

Well-wisher videos came not only from parents, grandparents and friends scattered all over the world but messages were also sent from key workers in the NHS, Network Rail, BT, Co-op, fire service and teachers.

Leading people from the world of science and technology also shared their ‘One Minute Wonders’ and praised the work of students who approached global and personal problems with impressive solutions. Dame Wendy Hall, Kate Russell, Dallas Campbell, Liz Bonnin, Rory Cellan Jones, Harry McVeigh from the band White Lies, Maggie Aderin Pockock,Suzie Imber and Andrew Cohen, Head of BBC Studios Science Unit were among those presenting the awards.
