Remember those lucky Wokingham students who won the chance to visit Sony Europe after winning a competition at TeenTech?

The group of 15 Year 8 and 9 pupils from The Forest School had a day long hands-on experience with the technology company which offered them the opportunity to star in their own 3D movie and to find out more about careers in engineering. The group joined experts from Sony who showed them how to use the very latest 3D camera equipment and explained how 3D films are projected on cinema and TV screens.

Val Elliot, head of commercial engineering at Sony, said: “Sony were delighted to host the school and fully supports TeenTech as we believe in inspiring students to develop their ideas and to find out more about the fascinating world of cutting edge technology.”

At the end of the day the group watched the recently-released film The Green Hornet in Sony’s digital cinema while enjoying bowls of popcorn.

Many thanks to Sony for offering such a powerful prize. Those students and their teacher will now watch 3D movies with a completely different eye.
