Our work with TeenTech
Symantec has set a goal to excite, engage, and educate 1 million students in STEM education, with an emphasis on computer science and cybersecurity by the year 2020. Symantec employees are helping to achieve this goal through TeenTech’s lively Science and Technology one-day learning events where students are introduced to a wide range of career possibilities in STEM.
TeenTech and Symantec have partnered for over 3 years. At the TeenTech days Symantec employees have run a “Cyber Spies” challenge. In this hands-on, online safety themed learning session, teens were introduced to “packet capture” – a technique a hacker might use to listen in when two friends are using a non-secure instant messaging service, using this to show how easy it is to find out personal information from a social media site, and how important it is to set strong passwords.
