Project Development Guide
It’s important to us and to the judges, that we understand how your project developed over time. This guide will help you document your project’s development journey, including your timescale (when you did what) and the key information that shows how your idea grew from a first spark into a thoughtful, developed concept
Project Title & Summary
- Create a clear, standout title. Please avoid long project names, you can include extra detail in your project description. Short, punchy titles work best and are easier for people to remember.
- Write a short summary explaining what your idea is, who it helps, and why it matters.
The Problem You’re Solving
- Describe the real-world challenge, need or opportunity your innovation addresses.
- Explain why this problem is important.
Your Big Idea
- Outline your solution and how it works.
- Highlight what makes it innovative, different, or exciting.
Who Benefits?
- Identify the users or communities your idea is designed for.
- Explain how your innovation improves their lives or experiences.
Research & Insights
- Summarise key findings from your research, interviews, surveys, testing, or inspiration.
- Show how your research shaped your thinking.
- Feedback and comments from mentors/industry experts
Design & Development
- Include sketches, prototypes, models, experiments, or iterations.
- Describe how your idea evolved over time.
Technology, Tools & Materials
- List any technologies, software, materials, or tools involved.
- Explain how they support your idea.
Ethical & Responsible Innovation
- Reflect on ethical principles, social impact, accessibility, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.
- Show how your idea can be used responsibly.
Feasibility & Future Development
- What did your idea end up becoming?
- Explain how your idea could be built or scaled.
- Describe next steps, challenges, and long-term potential.
Reflection
- Share what you learned during the project (how did you work as team or individually, communication. how your ideas progressed, did you learn from your mistakes, have you been inspired?)
- Note what surprised you and what you might do differently next time.
Optional Extras
- Images, diagrams, or sketches (always useful to bring your ideas to life)
- A short video demo where relevant
- Quotes from users or testers
- Links to prototypes, code, or models where relevant
