TeenTech Innovation Live: Coding Games Masterclass 3 (BBC micro:bit Games)

April 7 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am UTC+0

Virtual Event Virtual Event
TeenTech Coding Games Masterclass

We are surrounded by Internet of Things technology! It powers our smartwatches, our smart home devices, and devices around our town and cities. Join us for an introduction to the micro:bit, a tiny computer that is full of sensors, as we code a game together that runs on this super cool device. This session is suitable for complete beginners (even if you’ve never coded before).

Please note: You DO NOT need to have a micro:bit to take part in this session. There’s an “on screen” micro:bit in the developer tools!

Join us each morning for a different coding activity led by an app and game developer. This course is suitable for absolute beginners who have never coded before who want to understand the concepts behind programming and creating apps and games. We'll be doing some fun block coding projects, creating some fun games and learning the fundamentals of programming! Every single project we work on this week can be completed using a modern browser, with no additional software (or hardware) required.

This Masterclass is part of a three-day course. Please do register for all three sessions if you can, as we'll be building up our knowledge throughout the week. You can manage your events at

Teachers: If your students are on Easter Break, you can register for these sessions as a teacher and share the joining link directly with your students (via your internal school platforms), so they can watch and code along from home. Our joining links are open links, and students do not need to have a TeenTech account to take part - they can simply click the joining link.

If you are in school on these dates, then you can play this session in your classroom (on a large screen, at the front of the class) and your students can code along with us on their laptops or tablets.

Parents/Carers/Students: Parents (and students aged 16+) can register for these sessions to access these sessions from home.

Our TeenTech presenter will step the students through each part of the project, and students will be able to, safely, share their code if they need assistance.

If the timings don’t work for your school, or if you can’t join the sessions live, don’t worry! All sessions will be available for playback.

These sessions are generously funded by the Digital Skills Partnership Lancashire.
